9:34PM - "'Ha!' exclaimed the doctor, his ejaculation sounding full of relief"
Went out for birthday dinner with my sister, her boyfriend, and
toastyeggs yesterday to a nice Japanese restaurant. As usual I couldn't resist the sushi and our order was mostly that. It was very delicious, and I tried several things I hadn't before--wasabi shuumai (tasty), takoyaki (tasty, needed more octopus as I liked the chewyness), sea urchin (taste wasn't bad but the texture was so soft I didn't like it), and squid (texture also a bit weird, taste was hard to determine as I was distracted by the salmon roe it came with). As always I had much delicious eeeeeeeeeeel.
mars_assassins Victorian Schwartz in space, a NaNoWriMo by
daegaer from a few years ago. It's an interesting mimicry of Victorian adventure novels by George Manville Fenn, intentionally poking fun at the language and how very gay everybody is in Fenn's work. It retains much of the style and Victorian faults (classism, sexism, racism, imperialism, etc) but is a fun read because it's aware of all of it. I was never big into Weiss Kruez but it's not really necessary to read it.
Fenn's stuff is hilarious, as there are lines such as my entry title. There are a lot of men being men and having the most stalwart of friends and it's ridiculously slashy from what I've read, or just has lines that I can't help but wonder if they were intentionally made so ridiculous.
'Tell me this, though: are you satisfied to go?'
'Quite. Help me get off' –
'I will; but' –
'By being silent, and then putting everything in one good grip of the hand.'
daegaer has a bunch of posts about his stuff, and it's an amusing read. Much of it is available at Gutenburg Project, which I plan to read and have much laughter.

2:23PM - don't i look fetching in my leather coat and goggles?
Wrangler RPF avec moi!
Check out the rest of the Wrangulatorverse, starting with "forma." Perhaps I shall write one myself, after I open the can of worms that is significance of name order in pairing listings in certain fandoms (and certain segments of certain other fandoms, which is gonna be the fun part) and if it's possible to do synonyms with a disambiguation option.
ETA: Pray for me. I just claimed seaQuest.

9:45PM - this is my brain avoiding productivity
Because when there's wrangling to be done and fic to be revised or drafted, that's clearly the time for a meme. Entry not yet tagged for the fic, so as not to spoil the surprise.
Lifted from
longsufferingly:1. Write down the names of 10 characters.
2. Write a fic of fifteen words or less for every prompt, using the characters determined by the numbers. Do NOT read the prompts before you do step 1.
1. Kurosaki Hisoka (Yami no Matsuei)
2. Jin Bora (Anyband)
3. Stephanie (CSJH)
4. Jensen Ackles (CW RPF)
5. Kim Junsu (DBSK)
6. Clayman (GetBackers)
7. Elizabeth Swann (PotC)
8. Satine (Moulin Rouge)
9. Trinity (The Matrix)
10. Ben (Dark Angel)

5:56PM - here, have some synonyms
Put in CSJH and Chun Sang Ji Hee for CSJH. For Dong Bang Shin Ki:
DBSK
Dong Bang Shin Gi
DBSG
TVXQ
TVfXQ
Tong Vfang Xien Qi
Tohoshinki
THSK
Currently, there are no Banjun Theatre stories in the archive. Like Anyband FPF, my instinct is that it should be a distinct subfandom that's searchable on its own or as part of a DBSK search, but the ability to create subfandoms and metafandoms isn't yet in place, so if you've got a Banjun story, just put it in as a new fandom.
Now I get to decide if I want to wrangle more synonyms for CSJH or concentrate on one fandom at a time and wrangle all the synonyms for the DBSK pairings that are already in the system (oh, sweet mother of Mike). Also, I'm not quite sure what to do about the fact that Minho is both a DBSK pairing and a member of SHINee. I don't think I can wrangle it into one fandom when another's guaranteed to want to use it, even if they're in different Tag wuzzle fields.
Oh, yeah, and Chaotic Butterfly's now a fandom, and I moved The Good King to movies and threw the synonym "Good King Wenceslas" at it. Somebody let me know if there's fic for the carol and I need to change that.
ETA: Went ahead and synonymized TSZX, TJCK, Tenjo Chiki, Tenjochiki, and Tian Shang Zhi Xi (which I'm gonna have to mess with if they change the code to allow non-English accented characters).
ETA 2: THIS IS ANOTHER REASON TO HATE THAT STUPID "THE GRACE" BS. *snarls and synonymizes it, though she wants it on record that SHE OBJECTS*

8:35PM - DBSK: The Air Up There
The Air Up There
by Rana Eros
(DBSK, OT5, wardrobe mishaps, 200 words)
In which Changmin is tall and their designer is never allowed to go on vacation again. Ever.
Author's Notes: I want it known that Keiko totally abuses her modly power. Which is how it should be. Written for Keiko, and for the drabble challenge topic of "boots" over at dbsk_flashfic. Eliza-tested, Eliza-approved (and you shoulda heard what she was talking about).

8:57PM - will put something witty or riduculous here later
Sony Releases New Stupid Piece of Shit that Doesn't Fucking Work ILU Onion
toastyeggs is a bitch and baked me a giant cake and completed my xxxHolic manga collection for my birthday. She's also doomed, for I will be victorious and thoroughly get her back for this.
phoenixice ended up having me invite people to my own surprise birthday party. My friends are assholes that keep giving me gifts for some weird reason...but I had a good birthday, though it would've been better if I hadn't misjudged how much I'd been drinking on too little food and ended up sick.
I also went to the symphony on Saturday, which was nice.
Aside from officially growing older, my life is still fairly uneventful overall.
But I own Up, so it's all ok.

6:28PM - yuletidiness, ao3 nattering, being nuna, and broken is the word
Refreshed self on Yuletide source yesterday, and was reminded of how much I love it. Love also gives me wings. Today, fighting with the denouement of my Yuletide story. Either my recipient will like it, or ze'll learn to embrace the details field and Yule letter tradition next year.
Has anyone actually submitted the suggestion to the AO3 pantheon that the character limit on the pairings field be extended? Also, I am pondering wuzzle wrangling. I might not have the spoons, on the one hand, but on the other, I have a *koff* decent knowledge of some, ah, obscurer fandoms. Also, I just like saying it. Wuzzle wrangler. It's kinda like speaking Welsh.
No Nuna Exchange stories so far, but I suspect that'll change at the end of the month, if this year is anything like the last two. Also, I have been sounding off a bit in nuna_fans so as not to blast the dbsg comm with my special blend of "you people are stupid," "damn kids get off my lawn," "vive le revolution," and "would you like some self-absorption with that entitlement?" Tl;dr version: three members of DBSK are suing their management company for, frankly, unspeakably vile terms of contract. Cue mass freakout by kids afraid they'll break up and inclined to blame the three members for bringing it up rather than the company for, y'know, pulling shit. Cue Rana wanting to reach through the screen and beat a whole lot of people with her keyboard. Or just tell them all to grow the hell up before they interact with the rest of the human race.
Returning to writing, because it calms me, or at least allows me to channel my severe misanthropy in ways that won't get me arrested: my Broken Toys story is in fragments that nearly equal 3K words, none of them anywhere near a climax. So I guess I know what I'll be doing once the Yuletide is drafted.

9:39PM - the beta bug has bit
Nobody's added Count Cain/Godchild/The Cain Saga to AO3, yet, so what name should I add it under? I know it's on the Yuletide master list as The Cain Saga, so that's probably the name I should use, but nobody in the fandom calls it that, and the story I need to upload is actually in the Godchild timeframe. Preferences?
Also, I try to remind myself that there is no reason to get as gleeful about submitting bug reports as about inputting a new fandom or pairing (Yami peeps, you get a lot more choices now), but that doesn't stop me from doing it. It's a bug and I found it! Whee!

10:41PM - is there a prize for that?
Just added all my CSJH stories thus far to AO3, and I am writing up a post about my personal tagging system in terms of relationships. I also just added my Highlander/The Good King stories to the archive. The Good King as in Wenceslas, as in the Family Channel Movie based on the Christmas Carol based on the life of a guy who would actually do better with one of those bloodtastic gruefests that are all the cinematic rage. Really, the scene where he's knifed down by his brother and his brother's friends as he heads to Mass in the snow (not a scene that happened in the Family Channel version, more's the pity) is the sort of thing to make shock-value directors giggle themselves to sleep with sheer macabre glee.
Be that as it may, the movie we actually have is considerably more schmaltzy than gory, so I fixed it with a nice dose of one of the Four Horsemen from Highlander. Also, this fandom is too obscure for Yuletide (by fandom, in this case, I mean has at least one story, and this one has two, and they are both mine). I'm weirdly proud of that.

11:17AM - in which i contribute to fannish statistics
So you know how you hear those stories about computer crashes that inevitably take place during holiday fic exchanges and those stories are held up as examples of why you should back up your writing files to two different places at least once a week?
It's a good thing I back mine up every morning these days, 'sall I'm saying. Well, that and my new laptop is named Trinity and she is wee, slick, badass, and so fast that she will shoot you in the head faster than you can dodge.

6:46PM - answer to the threesomes and moresomes question on ao3
From the AO3 support team:
It's likely you're having difficulty with your threesome tags because each indivdual tag may only contain up to 42 characters. This is noted on the upload form, but a lot of people do miss it, and we're reviewing the way this information is displayed to users as we continue to get feedback.
For threesomes, we suggest using last names instead of full names to fit within the 42 characters per tag restriction.
I can work with those guidelines for everything but DBSK, for which I will put first names in alphabetical order, and CSJH, for which I will put stage names in alphabetical order, because they just do not go by their surnames. Well, and Anyband, none of whom have surnames in-character except Jin Bora. But Hisoka/Tatsumi/Tsuzuki is now in the system as Kurosaki/Tatsumi/Tsuzuki, for anyone who needs to use it.

4:26PM - at least i am breaking fandom in new and interesting ways?
I just got to submit a support ticket for AO3 asking how to tag stories for threesomes and moresomes (I mean, there's Multi and Other, but I need to be able to put in the pairings). And then there's that whole "implied X" or "past X" thing.

10:50PM - so it's not just yuletide
Got the Broken Toys fic started. By which I mean, got a first draft that's already over the minimum wordcount, but I think it's definitely one of those where I'm going to be filling things in for a few days. I might even expand it beyond a single scene, though that means I get to flail around with transitions, of which I am not so fond.
Have I mentioned that panic gives me wings? I always worry I'll default on a(nother) challenge, or completely fail to meet the deadline, if I don't produce a rough draft as fast as possible, so I always try to push something out within a few hours of getting the assignment. Then I can take a little more time refining it, and it puts me in a prime position for pinch hitting, but I always worry what will happen if there comes a time that I can't get a rough draft out like that.
My neuroses, let me show you them.

7:26PM - the dilemma i much prefer to have
Just got my Broken Toys assignment for
jamponygifts, and am torn as to which prompt to fulfill. Or! I could combine a few of them, which might make for a longer story, but sometimes I manage those. Hmm....
I cross my fingers Yuletide will present me with such a quandary. And did I mention ten people ended up offering Anyband? Because they did. I feel there is only one icon truly appropriate for this. Luckily, I have it uploaded to all my journals.
